Quotes from Biographical Sources

Six men and women with ties to Dartmouth basketball, including four graduates, will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.

Gene Booth '57 was an outstanding guard for Coach Doggie Julian's basketball teams at Dartmouth from 1954-57. Booth was regarded as one of the Green's finest defensive players who Julian usually assigned to cover the opponent's most dangerous scorer. That was never more important than in the opening game of the 1956 NCAA Tournament when Booth effectively shut down Rod Hundley of West Virginia. Hundley came into the game averaging more than 29 points per game but didn't manage a shot in the final eight minutes. Dartmouth won in overtime, 61-59, at Madison Square Garden. Dartmouth lost to Canisius, 66-58, in the second round of the East Regional. Booth is being honored for the category of Semi-Professional.
