Services for William H. Bullock of Everett, one-time Andover Academy athletic great and a familiar figure at Boston sporting events, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Davis funeral home, Walnut st. Roxbury. Mr. Bullock died Sunday in his home at 14 Winter st. He was 83.

An outstanding performer in track, football and baseball, Mr. Bullock broke records at Everett public schools and at Cambridge Manual Training School - now Rindge Tech - and later at Andover. He attended Dartmouth College briefly, leaving when his father died to help support his eight brothers and sisters. After leaving Dartmouth, Mr. Bullock worked primarily as a guard at horse parks throughout New England. A tall, straight personable man, he was a familiar figure at Bruins and Celtics games and almost daily went to Boston Garden to visit his sporting friends. His wife Alice, died several years ago.

A son of slaves, Mr. Bullock came to Boston at an early age from North Carolina. His brother, Matthew W., a retired Philadelphia attorney, starred in sports at Andover and at Dartmouth, where he was in the class 1904.
